The Basics: As an Advocacy and Social Justice Intern at New York-based non-governmental organization African Refuge, I assisted Executive Director Jacob Massaquoi with planning and implementing the 2010 Symposium on the Future of Liberia. This Symposium provided a platform for international advocates, Liberian peace activists, and Liberian citizens to discuss the progress of transitional justice in post-war Liberia.

Project Accomplishments:

• The Symposium reached more than 150 participants, engaging them in impactful discussions around the three thematic issues of reform, redress, and recovery.
• The Symposium released seminar findings calling for full implementation of the Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission Final Report.
